Together We Are Stronger

A collective voice is always stronger than individual pleas, thus the Transport Operators Association of Zimbabwe serves as the mouth piece bringing to the fore the interests of its members. The Association has become a strong and unified voice of road freight operators in Zimbabwe and is recognized as the official Industry Trade Association representing fleet owners and operators within Government Authority corridors in Zimbabwe and the region. The Association tirelessly engages government ministries, departments and agencies as well as other stakeholders on matters affecting members’ day to day business operations as it endeavors to coordinate its members into a sound, reliable and efficient grouping so as to increase the body’s influence and negotiating strength on members’ exceptional concerns, requests and enquiries. The TOAZ's engagements with these authorities has facilitated the shift from an harassment model of business attitude to the current preferred culture of co-operation and consultation with transport operators.

  • Through gathering news, information and intelligence the TOAZ has become the focal point in disseminating vital industry information to keep the members updated of current operational trends.
  • The Association produces and circulates Management Information Bulletins to update members on topical matters relevant to the transport operating industry.
  • TOAZ provides members a platform of rubbing shoulders with industry peers through sharing their views on matters affecting their individual operations so as to benefit from the wealth of shared knowledge and experience on offer.
  • TOAZ offers Training and Capacity Building for its members’ employees on an array of customized training courses that addresses the unique challenges and needs presented by changes in the transport industry.
  • TOAZ facilitates business linkages between cargo owners and member companies as well as amongst members through enquiry services and advertisement opportunities.
  • TOAZ negotiates with key industry suppliers for discounts on members’ purchases where possible.
  • Every A and B member has a right to participate and vote at General Meetings and Annual General Meetings of the Association.

Lobbying and Negotiations

Through lobbying of government authorities and agencies, the TOAZ influences policy, regulation and legislation affecting the Road Freight Industry. Membership to the Association therefore provides members with important lobbying strength that advances the sector’s agenda in Zimbabwe and the region. Membership to the Transport Operators Association of Zimbabwe adds valuable opportunities to increase the competitiveness of individual members’ businesses.

Labour Issues Assistance

Labour issues in the Transport Operating Industry in Zimbabwe are effectively addressed through the TOAZ as it is the authority representing the Transport Operating Industry Employers at all National Employment Council Transport Operating Industry (NECTOI)’s Collective Bargaining Agreement Negotiations. The Association interacts on a regular basis with the Unions representing employees at NECTOI to negotiate wages and conditions of employment. A comprehensive Consulting Service on Labour issues and Industrial Relations matters is offered to members to ensure that operators are equipped enough to handle Industrial Relations issues effectively. TOAZ represents its members on all the NECTOI Committees.

Industry Expertise and Advice

The TOAZ offers advisory services to its members for assistance with technical issues where members, through the Association, have access to a wide range of industry skills, expertise and experience they can tap into through the big pool of resources shared between the entire membership.

MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION

Membership of the Association is currently open to all employers in the Road Transport Operating Industry who own or operate goods and or passenger vehicles, as well as suppliers and service providers who conduct businesses which are directly related to the industry. All members agree to abide by the TOAZ Code of Conduct.
